Gary Gardell:  

School All in all, spent 4 years at WTW trying not to get caught doing something I shouldn't have been doing. For the most part, it worked. Except for the occasional screw up, succeeded in that quest. Made lots of friends and have mostly fond memories of those years. Should have been a little more diligent in my studies but always seemed to get by with something of a passing grade - at least good enough to get into UVa with a little begging. Had a fun run with Latin class and Mrs. Mathers. Am very surprised how much of that stuff I still remember today, some34 years later. Was even in the Latin Club, if those of you who remember me can believe that. Mrs. Wigutoff saw through me and gave me the grades I deserved and/or earned in Government my senior year. My own grades looked like the "bell curve" - only in reverse. Had a great time with most of the girls I had the pleasure of dating. Carol Walline (WTW '69) and I were friends but we never dated in H.S., although I was secretly in love with her. However, we met again at NOVA, the year after I dropped out of UVA when we were in the same Phys. Ed. class. Talk about timing! I must have been doing something right because, in spite of all of my shortcomings, Carol agreed to marry me. For those of you who knew her, you knew how beautiful Carol was. But, not only was she beautiful on the outside, she was even more beautiful on the inside. Somehow, even with all of my foibles, she agreed to marry me and we were married in '71. We have two beautiful daughters, Emily, 38, and Christie, 29, both are now married and have made us the proud grandparents of four beautiful souls, Natalie, Carter, Katelyn and Brady.
