G Mike's Story
School
I must admit that I really blew it in high school. There were a lot of opportunities that I just wasn't interested (at that time) in taking advantage of, and I really had a lot of areas that I should/could have improved upon. I've learned a lot since then.
Workplace
Work.. Well like most I've had a variety of jobs. After the Navy, I worked in a paint & body shop / service station, became a EMT/Paramedic and worked for the Pine Island/Matlacha Ambulance Service, moved to Georgia to be the Assistant Director of the Rabun County EMS, moved to Charlotte, NC and worked in a plastics manufacturing plant, left and went to work at Duke Energy Corporation for nearly 20 years, was laid off, worked as a Business Office Manager for a family o...Expand for more
wned baled cotton warehouse company for 20 years, and now I'm retired and loving it.
Military
Served four years in the Navy. I was stationed on two ships, the first was the USS L.Y. Spear (AS36) as member of the commissioning crew, and the second was the USS Trenton (LPD14) as member of the commissioning crew. While in the service I got to go through the Panama Canal, see Acapolco, Mexico, see much of the Carribean, cruise the Mediterranean. Had a lot of good friends and good times. And in retrospect, probably should have made the Navy a first career and would have had plenty of time for a second career.
Currently
Enjoying this period in life, grand children, motorcycling, canoeing, hiking, some travelling, family, reasonably good health.
