Gayle Norman's Story
After graduating from TJ in 1963 I attended UT Austin and pledged Delta Gamma Sorority. My roommate was my best high school friend, Mardee Schramm. Initially, My major was Business Administration, but after 2 1/2 years I switched to Elementary Education. I did not finish college as I met and married Rod Poirot and worked as an administrative assistant at WFAA -TV, and Clairol while Rod finished law school at SMU. We adopted our first child, a son, Jason, in 1972, and a daughter, Jolie, in 1975.
As a side note, both of our adopted children have been reunited with their birth families. This is amazing because they were adopted in the day of totally private adoption...Expand for more
s and birth records we're sealed forever! Laws change making it possible for adult adoptees to obtain original birth certificates if they can provide certain information.
We currently have 2 grandchildren, a step-granddaughter from Thailand who is 22 and attends UT Dallas and who recently became a US citizen. Our grandson is 6 1/2 years old.
I retired after 18 years of working as an administrative assistant in the President's Office at UT Dallas. I was priviledged to meet many different people ... An astronaut, Nobel Laureates, Congressmen, Senators, and leaders in the community, and many wonderful co-workers.
I have been blessed with a good husband and good life!
