Gene Dexter Anthony's Story
Life
My life has profoundly changed. However, the place where I came from, the memories of the people I grew up with and the love that I still have for them has never left me. I can never forget the early mornings, long afternoons, twilight evenings and fond moments I spent growing up with all of you. Sitting on the sidewalk, riding the bus, being late to school and not doing any homework. Breaking up, driving fast and kissing slow. Taking road trips with the windows down and the wind running through our hair. The music of the 90's and the new millennium was playing and saying everything we felt. We loved so many, yet hated so much. We hurt others and were hurt ourselves... yet even then, we ran like the wind, whilst our laughter echoed under cerulean skies. If that was growing up, I'd give up my life and do it all over again.
School
I miss school.
Educators that inspired me most:
Elementary: Naomi Hanono (2nd Grade), Carl Strickland (Retired/Re-curring substitute teacher) (R.I.P.) and Don Schmidt (6th Grade).
Jr. High: Liz Planta (Drama), Nancy Stubbs (Science), Jeff Williams (Music), Dominic Camara (History), Mark Hedderson (English), Sean Murphy (forgot what he taught, but he looked and acted like Howie Mandel, John Purvis (P.E....Expand for more
), Gina Saclauso-Caro a.k.a. 'Ms. S-C' (Home Economics), Mike Clay (Math), Elizabeth Craighead (History), Brian Matsumoto (Woodshop), Clint McDonald (Math) and Janitor Steve Hower a.k.a. 'Woody' on his John Deere tractor for all his wisdom.
High School: First and foremost Michael Luzak (Music, infinite wisdom, guidance and love), Tamara Hartfield-Paige (Music, for her friendship and making music groovy and fun again), Erin Brunner (English), the ubiquitous Mr. Quigly (wise, but crazy), Kevin McClelland (History and for always keeping me in-check), Adam Nuncio (English, wise, talented and full of humor), Juan Ulloa (History, for his wisdom and guidance) and Nelson Velosa (Science, for his foreign wit and sense of humor).
College
Oh man, don't get me started with college. It has been a ride.
