Gerald's Story
I Left Lincolnton right after graduation and went to Atlanta Georgia. I parked cars, worked for Sears, Southern Bell and NCR Corp. I worked in Atlanta. with NCR from 1959 t0 1961 and was transferred to Staunton Virginia after completing my first computer training in Dayton Ohio. In 1970 I earned a private pilot certificate and have been flying for fun ever since remaing in the Shenandoah Valley servicing mini and mainframe computers. for Nortel Networks until 1988. Nortel moved me to Raleigh, NC to work with a desktop computer group.. As manager for a team of people that supplied parts and repair services to Nortel's offices around the US I traveled to most of the major cities. I retired in 1995 and moved back to the Shenandoah Valley. In 1998 I got bored and went back to work at Rockingham Memorial where I still work today as a part time desktop computer tech.
It has been a great ride and I hope it continues for more years to come.
