Gerald's Story
I am now residing in Alberta. I completed my 9 years as an MLA in 2011 when I also sold my law practice after 31 years practice. Pamela accepted a position as the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at Athabasca University, so I thought that perhaps I could retire. After one month of retirement, I knew that this wasn't for me! I wasn't ready to retire. I was offered and accepted a job as a full time Board Member for the Parole Board of Canada in Edmonton in 2012. I applied for and was successful in obtaining a job...Expand for more
with the Province of Alberta in mid 2013 as the Chairperson and CEO of the Surface Rights Board of Alberta, the Land Compensation Board of Alberta, the Municipal Government Board of Alberta and the Alberta New Home Buyer Protection Board. I have 110 Board Members to look after and about 230 staff. no time to retire right now, and enjoying every minute of it! Pamela and I are proud grandparents of three grandsons and one granddaughter. We do a lot of travelling and have vacationed in 20 countries so far and counting.
