Glenn's Story
geee whiz ! It's May, 2018 and the year is damn near half over..."Times-a-flyn"...We started our mountain bike race season with a race at El Paso Texas. in January.
( no change in my "history" or is the correct word Hysteria ! )Who was I? ummmmm...not part of a click for sure... I was not a "star pupil I got lousy grades...however, I frequently made the Deans Honor Roll in college....guess I just didn't give a damn in high school ! As a kid I lived in Bonnie Brae and later we moved to Englewood and so in high school most of my friends were there. However, There are some St Francis people who still have a special place in my heart. I hope the memories are mutual...some have tried to look me up but I did not get the information in time to follow up on it.
I continued my education in Southern California. Worked for Texaco in various computer areas,. Accepted a position with Phillips Petroleum in Oklahoma and later decided to move back to Colorado. Got a divorce (and annulment) received custody of Ashley. Worked various jobs and became an investment banker. Went on to found First Interstate Securities Inc. which I later sold to other investors. I retired and moved to Pueblo West Colorado and built a home at the entrance to Lake Pueblo.
Ashley studied International Business at CU...decided she would rather study Biology and got her degree and then decided to get a MBA. Ashley lives in Redington Beach, Florida. You can cross the road and be on the beach. She is an executive with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission...She has a great office with a close up view of the harbor from 4 floors up. I took a trip to visit them a few weeks back and had a great time....a beautiful place to live !
Time goes fast! It doesn't seem like I married the love of my life fifteen years ago..., We've been together about 18 years.. Janet. She grew up in Pueblo and was the youngest daughter of Dr. Anne and Dr. Clay Courtright of Pueblo and went to O.U.. We live on a bluff over looking the city. t the Courtrights made happen. We get daily visits from deer, foxes, bunnies, skunks Quail, birds of all types and many other critters...even a bear and Bob cats. We are close to the Arkansas River which is a corridor like a Highway for critters...great fly fishing...
The other love in my life is Haley, a grandson. Damn ! He's turning into a young man right in front of my eyes...every time I see him it seems like he grew 2" . He is a Sophomore this year interested in aerospace and avionics and considering trying to get into the Air Force Academy. He took up wall climbing and has been doing complicated 80' walls.
My health has been holding well...strong as a horse says my doctor.....um other people just think that I smell like a horse ! I had an electrolyte crash about a year back (you can carry a low salt diet to far !) It took some rehab time getting my balance back. I'm back riding my bicycle now. Janet bought me another new bicycle about a month ago. It's a Trek Mountain Bike with full suspension and is damn fast and powerful (electric assist and you still have to peddle !) I still have my other bicycles a titanium metal road bike by "Light Speed" and an older aluminum bodied "Turner" mountain bike that I love . Janet has 6 carbon fiber bicycles. one for the road, one for road racing that is the latest in hi-tec ...very light and very fast. Then come the mountain bikes...they are all competition specialized and designed for various trail conditions. Trail conditions like down hill racing, cross country or mixed. A lot of her races are 65 to 100 milers like the Breckenridge 100.
Pueblo has a great Symphony and we continue to have season tickets to it. The symphony has been performing for 80 some years. We also have season tickets for all the plays, music and dance programs that are presented by the Art's Center.
Oh yes...not all has been wonderful over the years...some stuff just plain sucked !
P.S. Are we having a re-union this coming Summer....Are there any 1959 ers still alive out there ? ...............any body out there? Youhoo !
