Life
What is this life really all about?
My mother's father came to Northern Kansas as a boy. His father bought some land, which he had saved for all of his adult life, but had no money left for a horse to plow the land. Therefore, at first, they walked 7 or 8 miles to buy their groceries and then carried what they had bought on their backs the 7 or 8 mles home. Their first house was made of sod, but they did enjoy a wood floor. Within his lifetime,he helped put in Rural Electicity, Owned a Telephone Company.
and saw such things as radio, television, air-conditioning, and men on the moon.
My life has been filled with blessings galore. Born and raised in the mostly quiet yet progressive town of Iola, Ks. A childhood of ingorant bliss...Expand for more
. Never avoiding it, but also never having to fight in a war myself. Great family and ultimately a great wife (Linda). I've never really achieved what the world might call great success. On the other hand, my work as a truck driver has paid the bills and allowed me the opportunity of seeing lots of places and meeting lots of people that few other people ever could. To me, being able to walk free, to smell the fresh air, to feel the wind upon my face and to have a full tummy and a warm place to sleep, is more than 99% of the people who currently live in this world have. When I think of all of the people who lived before my grandfathers time, I know that I am more fortunate than 99.9999999%. May God never allow me to take it all for granted.
