Hannah's Story
Life
After Bethel, I went to Christopher Newport University for my bachelor's degree. Half-way through my freshmen year I decided to change my major from Psychology to get this, Communication Studies. It was actually a public speaking class that lead me to the big decision. I know lots of people saw me as a quiet girl in high school, and I was somewhat. But I love communicating with people. If not in a big, public speaking setting, then through art and small group situations. So there you have it, my career change explained. My fascination with the media also pushed me into the Communication field. A favorite class at CNU was my Communication and Film course. In May 2003, I graduated and had to decided what to do from there.
So, I thought about it and applied to graduate school at Regent University in Virginia Beach. I got in, yeah! I wasn't sure what track to take though. Their Communication Studies program looked good, but I was also tempted to go in another direction. You would think I would have taken the Cinema/Television track, but my life was carved out differently than I anticipated. In May 2005, I graduated summa cum laude with a Ma...Expand for more
ster's Degree in Journalism. I didn't see that coming, to be honest. But God knows best. Actually, it was the best two years of my life. I had a blast.
The next step was to get a job, my first full-time job. I applied at several places, and got an offer last July to work at CBN as an Internet Producer. This was perfect because during my time at Regent I grew to love working with online news. The graduate program was converged media, so I learned print, online and broadcast news. I love my job because it gives me the opportunity to do what I love to do - write. I produce LivingTheLife.com (official site of our talk show) and write stories for cbn.com and cbnmusic.com.
Whoa! Sorry this is so long. You might be thinking that I love Hampton Roads so much that I won't ever leave, which isn't necessarily true. Although I do like the area, and my family is all here (I love that!). I am open to whatever life throws at me. And I have done some travelling, which I love. I have been to Costa Rica (twice), Germany, Peru, and New York City (dozens of times). I am going to Israel this March too!!!! I am so excited.
Well, that's me in a nutshell.
