I ended up attending UM in Missoula and getting my master's degree in wildlife biology studying golden eagles centered in the Livingston area. Then I worked for a few years in Jackson Hole on a study tracking elk by satellite. Got married in Arlee, MT in 1981 to Patricia Embry and we went to Alaska the following year, I ended up working as a grizzly bear research biologist for the next 34 years.with the Alaska Dept Fish and Game. I have been involved in the international organization for professional bear biologists,...Expand for more
and have attended their conferences since. 2004, I attended a workshop in Mongolia on Critically Endangered Gobi bears and have been working to help the last ~40 bearsin the population recover ever since. Patricia and I have 2 daughters, one with 2 young children in the Denver area, and the other here in Fairbanks. As they say in some parts of Montana, "It's been a good ride!" I've been one of the luckiest guys around and treasure my time in Gardiner and Montana. I keep in regular contact with Paul Miller, spotty contact with Mary and John Minish, and wish all of you the best.
