Hazael's Story

Hazael was awarded a PhD degree by Trinity College & University in 2004. He studied and graduated from the University of Kharkiv National Academy of Municipal Economy, Ukraine in 1995 with BSc and MSc degrees in Engineering . He was a PhD research student at Trinity College Dublin. His PhD thesis was on "The Potential Impacts of Light Rail Transit on travel Behaviour".. In the research, he uses a method borrowed from social psychology called the Theory of Planned Behaviour. From the theory, the intention to carry out any behaviour of any kind can be determined through intention according to Icek Ajze (1985 and 1987) . The Theory of Planned Behaviour states that the intention to perform any kind of behaviour can be accurately determined through attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control. In order to know if someone can carry out a given Behaviour, for example commuting with the Tram, we need to know his attitude toward using the Tram; his subjective norms, that is the influence of his parents, relations, friends, colleagues etc toward using the Tram and perceived behavioural control, that is if he is able to have control over his will power to use the Tram. In Newcastle, U.K, this scientific research paper titled: The Potential Impacts of the LUAS on Travel Behaviour was selected for Smeed Prize AWARD at the 36th Annual UTSG Conference, University of Newcastle, January 5-7, 2004. In Orlando, Florida, USA, the researcher was invited as a GUEST SPEAKER to present this.research paper titled: The Potential impacts of light rail transit on travel behaviour at the ITE 2004 Annual Meeting and Exhibit program. August 1-4, 2004. Author and Co-author of the research paper titled: "The Potential Impacts of LUAS on Travel Behaviour", Published in the Journal of the "European Journal of Social Science Studies", (ISSN 2501-8590, Volume 2, Issue 1, 2017).. Also, was Author and Co-author of the research paper titled: "Sustainable Construction Use of Incinerator Ash". (ISBN: 9780727728616, May 1, 2000, Thomastelford BookShop, Thomas Telford LtD.) Therefore, the Theory of Planned Behaviour can be use to predict and forecast accurately the impacts of the Tram on travel behaviour. Now, he is working as volunteer computer tutor at Age Action Ireland
