Heather's Story
After graduation, I attended Holy Family University and received a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. I also made some very good friends during that time, including Ron Vitale, to whom I was engaged for a while. After many years, Ron and I 'found' each other again and I can honestly say that my correspondence with him has been as stimulating as it was back then. We share our stories of parenthood and other things; I've learned a great deal about parenting from our emails to each other. Ron has two beautiful children and a beautiful wife. I am happy that he has found his happiness.
When I was 25, I met Brian Troy and we were married on October 10, 1999. We were blessed with an incredible kid, Lucas Daniel, on July 18, 2001. Our marriage was not meant to be, however, and we divorced in June of 2004. It's all right, though. As I explained to my son, "See, we were meant to be together so that you could be born. However, I was not meant to be with your Dad forever; he was meant to find Mindy and I was meant to find Douglas." Douglas and I met in November 2003 and married in June, 2005. He's the best husband I could have ever hoped for.

Our family is now four parents (Brian, me, Doug and Mindy), one sister (Mindy's daughter, Robyn) and Lucas. A couple weekends ago, Luc and I competed in Challenge of the Champions, a grappling and kick-boxing tournament for Tiger Schulmann's Mixed Martial Arts. The family stayed at a hotel (two rooms, of course), shared meals together, and laughed a lot. Yes, it's a little strange to most people, but for us it works. I love them all.
Since meeting Douglas, I've completed a second Bachelor's in Technical Management and am pursuing my Master's Degree in Post Secondary and Adult Education. I have been working for the same company for 11 years; I am currently a Performance Improvement Project Manager (a title I styled myself; the company is pretty casual about titles and responsibilities). My best friend, Jenn, and I started at the company 2 weeks apart. We share our lives quite intimately, although she lives in Alabama and I am in Allentown. It's interesting, to be sure. It was hard at first to go from sharing a cubicle to being thousands of miles away, but that is not an issue now.
Mother, wife, friend.... my life is pretty good.
