Heather's Story
Life
I went to TCC for a year right after high school. I ended up putting college on hold, since I had to pay for it myself and couldn't afford it. I worked in retail, and then at Avis's call center, where I met my now ex-husband. We were together from 1991-1996 and I have an amazing son who was born on May 6, 1994. My son is the best thing in my life. Pics of him, me and our pets are on my facebook profile under my yahoo email of onenonlyheather. Facebook is the page I keep up to date rather than classmates or Myspace.
I finally went back to college in Jan 1995 at OSU-Stillwater and graduated from OSU with a degree in Accountancy in August 1997. I worked in that industry for a few years, including PwC, DTAG, and GMS until I was laid off after 9/11. While I was laid off and the job market was horrible, I decided to get my Master's Degree in Special's Ed from OSU-Tulsa. While in the first 2 years of my program (2002-...Expand for more
2004), I worked as a TA in an ED classroom at an elementary school in Catoosa and did my practicum with an MR class at Union, with my "charge" being an autistic boy. In 2004, OSU chose to re-do the scheduling of the classes, only offering the last class I needed every other year, so I went back into accounting, taking a job at IBM as an Investment Analyst, having to put my degree on hiatus until I could get the last class, and finally completed in December 2006.
Currently, I am recovering from medical issues that seemed to arise after I was hit by the drunk driver. I don't know if I will go into teaching full time because it's heart breaking, or if I will go back into accounting...guess I'm having my mid-life crisis. I am trying to work on ideas for a novel or screenplay while I've been off work on disability, and may just go into a PhD program, not sure in what yet, probably psychology. That's my life up til now.
