Many events and circumstances triggered my leaving North Carolina, but despite the momentary despair that filled those times, my life has changed dramatically since then. After the sudden death of my long time boyfriend and, shortly thereafter, my mother, I left for Oklahoma to embark on my adventure in the military. It was not quite what I expected, but it gave me more than I could have ever hoped. In the Army I worked on electronics and laser-guided equipment which meant that my work was not exaclty hard labor, but it had its moments. I was fortunate enough to meet some wonderful people throughout my various adventures in the Army, from rock climbing and fishing, to thowing hand grenades and jumping out of airplanes.
