Heidi's Story
Life
2006-present
Living in the last Frontier - Alaska - Elmendorf Air Force Base- 4degrees below the Arctic Circle, and we all love it! It's a salmon (fishing) and hunters haven up here, but our family is just sticking to the fishing & camping for now...Yes, there is a midnight and later sun in the summer, and the days are VERY short in the winter but usually bright and sunny. We have bears and moose in our backyard and as long as they don't come in the garage we are ok with them wandering around.
2003-2006
Currently we are living in Europe on a RAF (Royal Air Force) Base,
traveling ,collecting stamps in our passports! If you are in the
London, UK area look us up. (I think I saw
Berkley Bagwell in Trafalgar Square one day!)
If we will actually be in the country
we love visitors. Otherwise we can tell you where to travel.
Iceland (most recent) and Greece (summer olympics 2004) have been our
most favorite adventures. (skiing the alps, tulips in Holland,
camping in Wales take close 2nd's...France and Spain bring up the
rear but they were still great hoidays)
The kids have met ...Expand for more
the Queen of England and
we have great photos of Princes Harry and William. (Met Harry too)
We miss target, sonic, Little Tokyo(Jackson,MS), and Crispy Cre.
Donuts that don't cost $12a doz.! We love round-a-bouts, miss a/c,
hate four way stops now and red lights, miss free car parks(parking
lots), love fish and
chips(fries), have been bitten badly by the 'antique auction' bugs,
and actually feel comfortable driving on the left side of the road.
We are still lacking
several passport 'stamps' though hope to fill in the gaps this
year... Having seen the land of the 'midnight sun-Iceland' Brian now
wants to see the northern lights, so we are off to Scandinavia this
winter and the Arctic Circle, brrr it's going to be frosty! But it's
where Santa is and the kids will love it! If time permits we will
traverse the US on our way to Hawaii to visit other military friends
in Jan 06. Otherwise we may try for the Maldives again this year off
the coast of India, the Tsunami altered our couse to Spain last year
but as least is was sunny, something the UK lacks much of in Jan!
Cheers!
