Herb's Story
Upon graduating from St Agathas in '57, and after a year at UofD, I went to Sacred Heart Seminary (Detroit) graduating in '62. I then went to St. John's Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, Mi. and was ordained a priest in 1966. I was assigned to St. Anne's Parish in Warren, Mi where I was for 5 years. Then, for 6 months, I was at St. John Bosco Parish in Redford Township. After that, I took a leave and began teaching Junior High in Mount Clemens, Michigan. At that time being a transformed 'east sider', I fell in love with Lake St Clair and sailed there daily and oftentimes, sailing Lake Huron and environs. I loved the water and purchased a home on the Clinton River in 1972 and then, 8 years later, found the love of my life, Linda. We were married in 1980 and are still at the homestead on the river.
I retired from teaching in 2005 and am very active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Rangering at Selfridge Golf Course, and active in St Vincent de Paul Society. I'm active in our Class of '57's reunions that we hold every year. Some of our East Side class members and mates are in a golf league that plays at Selfridge every summer.

d fit' (as all of us are at this age) and sure hate to attend those 'ever present' funerals where we send our friends to the great beyond to get that place 'fit' and ready for us ... I'm ever thankful that I can to do that and hope to continue that for years and years...
I sure remember well the years at St Agatha. I started there in 1949 in 5th Grade and then, they keep adding a great when we were in the 8th Grade and we just keep 'continuing' the great education presented. I'm sure thankful for those 'forward thinking adults: Frs. Reid, Bauer, O'Leary, and the Srs from Adrian, especially, Sr Thomas Cecille and those countless others.
At our yearly reunions, we all list them and remember all of them fondly and with a deep reverence.
Thanks Lord ... It's been a great ride ... and every monent of it, has been joyful and fun ... Thanks ... Herb Lorentz
Some of our class that are in the area and attend our reunions are: Anne Marie Sutter, Mary Fitzgerald, Stephanie Kemp, Richard Cronk (really class of 58), Arlene Hallman, Ron Monette (class of '58). There are many, many more but I'm getting tired and the mattress is calling ... Good Night and love to all ....
