Hershel Don's Story
After graduating from Messick High School, I attended and graduated from the Ouachita Baptist University on an ROTC scholarship. I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Army at graduation, and served on Active Duty for 25+ years --- first as a Field Artillery Officer and then as a Chaplain --- 1975-2000. Along the way, I lived in Berlin, Germany and Uijongbu, Korea as well as Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN, Fort Monmouth, NJ, Fort Sill, OK, and Fort Gordon, GA.
After retiring from the Army in 2000, I lived in Augusta, GA and was the Pastor of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church until 2007. I relocated in late 2007 to Olive Branch, MS where I served as the Pastor of the Bethel Presbyterian Chur...Expand for more
ch (PCUSA) until December 2012. I served the Batesville (MS) Presbyterian Church from August 2013 to January 2015. I retired again in May 2015, and relocated to Mount Dora, FL that July. In May 2020, I became the President of the Board for the Mount Dora Golf Association, and on November 1, 2020 I became the Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Umatilla, FL.
In 2009, I married Terry, a very special lady, and we have 3 grown children.. We're grandparents, and we'll be happy to show you the pictures!
