Hilary's Story

Life I am listed twice in this because I forgot my other password and login. This profile is being updated in July 2007. When I graduated from high school, I went to college at MSU. I graduated from there in 2000 and moved to Florida in April 2001. I hated Florida except when I was working in television and video production. I lived in Florida for 3 years. In July 2004, I moved to Colorado and am currently living in Colorado. When I first got out here, I moved in to a 4 bedroom house in Lakewood with Mike Chisholm, Zac Beavers and Scott Hoffman (a guy from New Jersey). Now Zac and I live in Fairplay, Colorado. We bought a house in December 2006 on an acre of land in the Valley of the Sun area of Fairplay (i.e. South Park). School For me, high school came and went. As a whole, it wasn't really a big deal to me. I was glad to be done when we graduated. My favorite teacher, by far, was Julie Jacobson. I was very sad when she couldn't teach anymore. My best friends in high school, when it came down to true friends, were probably mostly the guys I met snowboarding at Nubs Nob. They've been my lifelong friends and probably the people I keep in touch with most of all. My best experience in high school was actually during the summer, when I went to Finland as an exchange student in the summer of 1994. My biggest regret is that I didn't pursue a career in Architectural Drafting. I did well in that class in high school and I really enjoyed it. I should have pursued that as a career. I guess I still could but it'd be much harder to do now. Oh well. Live and Learn. :-) In May of 2005, I was back in Petoskey visiting and I had the chance to go to the high school. WOW! It sure has changed. There were so many new hallways and everything. "The Pit" wasn't there anymore either. I guess it just goes to show you that Northern Michigan is still growing and changing a lot. College College was another time in my life that really just came and went. I didn't really party much or date much or do a lot of the "college" things. I was there to get an education and that's what I did. When it was done, life moved forward. I dated a Frat boy from Kettering University in Flint (even though I was at MSU) for about a year and a half, on and off. We had known one another as k...Expand for more
ids since both of our parents were in the ski industry. That was the only time I really went to any parties and they were mostly semi-formals and stuff. It was kind of neat to be a part of that scene for a little while but I was far from being a "Sorority girl." I was lucky in college and had a single room every semester except the first semester of my Freshman year so I didn't really have to deal with roommates. That was nice. None of my classes really stand out as having a great impact on my life. I guess the closest would be my Sociology classes. They really opened up my eyes to things outside of Petoskey and the small town environment I came from. My closest friend in college was a guy from my Karate class. He was kind of like a brother to me. Unfortunately, when he got married in 2004, I couldn't attend the wedding but he and his wife send Christmas cards each year. That's about it for college... not a lot to tell. Workplace My workplace experiences from high school on aren't much to talk about. While I was in college I worked at Modern Skate and Surf in East Lansing. That was a fun job but the pay was horrible. When I graduated from college, I went back to Petoskey for a few months and worked at the Bahnhof. When I moved to Florida in April 2001, my first job was at Burdine's department store. Then I got a job working for Media Entertainment in Tampa, Florida. I was a post-production assistant and coordinator on the PBS series The Genocide Factor (episodes 2-4) and on the show The Directors: The Films of Bryan Singer. This was a pretty cool job and pretty much related to my college studies. Unfortunately, that job didn't work out quite as well as I had hoped. After that, I got a job working for Collegiate Funding Services in St. Petersburg, Florida. This was a pretty easy job with decent pay. I left that job to move to Colorado. My first job in Colorado was working at The Oxford Hotel in Denver. In December 2005 I got a job working at the base of Copper Mountain for Intrawest Colorado. In March 2006, I stopped working there and started to work at the Bahnhof in Breckenridge. In May 2007, I decided to get out of the retail business and got a job at the Wells Fargo bank in Breckenridge, Colorado. I'm enjoying it and there is a lot of career potential there.
