Ian's Story
Life
While I no longer work on partisan political matters (yup I gave up on the party politics years ago), I have focused my 24 years of public relations, grassroots organizing, as well as issue advocacy, campaign & ballot management into a new ventures. The first is a brand new company (Ohio Petition Company) which I started after seeing many other companies & groups try & fail at placing issues on the ballot in Ohio. It always made me mad that so many carnies moved into Ohio to ramp up a petition drive, charge millions of dollars then leave the state with piles of cash & angry clients. My other company (The Strategy Network) continues to generate public awareness & support for a wide range of issues including civil rights, health care, telecommunications & environmental matters as well as an assortment of ballot measures. I also jointly own a video production studio in Columbus that focuses upon public issue development & general advertising. And if that werenÂt enough... I also work as the Chief Operating Officer of a non-profit organization (James A. Rhodes Leadership Foundation) which provides financial assistance to Ohioans who seek an in-state community or technical college education. Yes, I am still a work-a-holic.
As the COO of a non-profit, I develop scholarship programs to provide tuition, books & other educational materials to financially needy Ohioans. I have also been active in developing a comprehensive social networking component that each of the scholarship recipients will utilize throughout their college years & beyond. WhatÂs more I have developed a diploma to work initiative that requires our scholarship recipients to work in Ohio for a period of four years upon graduation. This initiative  when merged with the social networking component  links employers to a future workforce with the goal of creating a relationship that will not only improve the scholarship recipient, their family, but the employer & state as well.

municate with OhioÂs community & governmental officials as well as statehouse press corps & OhioÂs media outlets / editorial boards to unravel complex issues & provide the public a greater understanding of pending legislation & matters of public interest. In this capacity I have appeared in national publications including USA Today, The Advocate & The San Francisco Chronicle. Closer to home I provide background for reporters & on the record comment for numerous Midwestern publications including: The Akron Beacon Journal, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer, Columbus Dispatch, Dayton Daily News, Toledo Blade & Youngstown Vindicator. This has led to my extensive work experience in working with organized labor, business & community groups as well as governmental bodies to secure their support for a variety of measures. As such, I often develop & implement large & small public events including town hall forums, statewide bus tours & rallies, targeted door-to-door canvass operations, phone outreach programs & virtual community online.
On a more personal note, I fell in love & legally married my husband Stephen July 4, 2003 in Toronto, Ontario after nearly 5 years of living together. Since that time, I have worked to afford all Americans equal protection under the law, often educating people that many of these protections can only be realized by civil marriage. For those who know me, it should be no surprise that I have remained active in community & governmental affairs. I have learned the pain of pride & the importance of hard work to improve one's life. I strive to treat others the way I would like to be treated (with respect & decency). Stephen & I would very much like to raise a child & have looked to adopting & or working with a surrogate.
I hope life after Athens High has been good to you & yours. If you read about my family status & think two guys shouldn't be allowed to live & love as a family, then drop me a line.
