Ilana's Story
Life
I work at a e-Commerce Website development company called Novator Systems Limited. My title is VP, Corporate Process Development & Audit.
I am also a Performance Rally driver, and the first woman to win a National Rally driving award in Canada.
I am also happily married to a great guy, Frank Sprongl. We met when I started racing, and have been together ever since. I go by the name Ilana Sprongl now, although that is still relatively new. I married Frank in March 2004, and the name change was complete in October 04.
We have a daughter now, Barbara Florence, named after my grandmother. She was born March 4, 2005. I am currently taking a break from racing, given the new baby, but I will go back to it soon. (I miss the adrenaline rush!)
School
School bio. BCES was too long ago. Although I seem to recall my first date came from the 6th grade "prom" when we graduated. Matt Sussman and I went to see a movie. We didn't "date" too long though. Maybe a week into 7th grade.
High school was mostly my clarinet. I don't remember much else, other th...Expand for more
an Mr. Cooperman's Rooster tie.
College
SUNY Buffalo. Computer Science and English. 5 years. Left before graduation, moved to Canada. Lots of parties in between going on tour following the Grateful Dead (RIP Jerry)
University of Waterloo - Independent Studies - thesis - The Development of Artificial Intelligence. Again, not completed, my thesis supervisor got sick and quit. I gave up on school and started working full time (Technical Writing/Management).
Richard Ivey School of Business/University of Western Ontario. So I finally decided to complete a degree. I didn't want to deal with undergrad, so I took (and aced *grin*) the GMAT. That got me into Ivey's Executive MBA program without a problem. I highly recommend this program.
So, I have my MBA, even if I never did quite finish any of my undergrad programs.
Workplace
After years of consulting, I settled into Novator in 1999. I have held several positions within Novator since I began working there.
It is an excellent place to work, good people, and a truly quality software/services offering.
