Ilene's Story

OK, I'll do this as quickly and painlessly as I can, starting now! I just released my debut children's music CD, called BE NICE. I wrote and recorded it with an old friend of mine (Steve), and I think it's the best thing I've ever done. I only wish it hadn't taken me 20 years to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up, but better now than when AARP starts sending me mailings in another 20 years! Anyhoo, I'd love for you to check out the CD and listen to some songs at my website: leenyandsteve.com Please email me (contact info is on the website) and let me know if you and your kids (and grandkids?) like it. And feel free to buy lots of CDs if you do! We really appreciate the support of friends and family, and their help in spreading the word. For the last few years, I've been writing corporate music and scripts for videos and events. Really, not that exciting, but it pays the bills, and it can be kind of self-entertaining in an "oh my God, what the heck do you want me to write about now???" sort of a way. Before that, I was living in Nashville, TN (that's right, you heard me, Nashville, YEE-HAW!), working as a production coordinator in the film and video industry. Actually Nashville got to be kind of fun, but no, I wasn't out in my Daisy Duke shorts line dancing, so please get that disturbing image out of your head. After high school, I attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where I received a B.S. in Communication. I was also working at the college radio station and playing in a rock band. I sort of regretted not going to music school right after ALJ, so I decided to spend a couple years at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where I received a Bachelor ...Expand for more
of Music degree in Songwriting (yup, I've got B.S. and B.M. - I'm all set in life). I think that catches us up to date... oh, you want personal details? I am married to a giant bald man named Nick. We've been together for seven years (married for two)... somehow he manages to put up with me (he did work with mentally disturbed people at one time) and is the nicest person I know. So where am I now, you may ask. Right this very minute, I am living in beautiful Gloucester, MA staring out at the ocean. It's pretty sweet:) Prior to that, I spent the last three or so years living in northern California, Berkeley to be exact. What a freak show! We couldn't take it out there any more and had to get back to the East Coast. But, most of my family is living out in California now... my little sister Hilary has two kids, my brother Robbie has three boys and a farm, and my mom Anita is still alive and kicking and walking several miles a day. I think she's living on coffee and yogurt. Yuck. But Boston is my home and I love New England. I always hated the Yankees (I was a Mets fan) so rooting for the Red Sox was a natural transition. The Knicks blew chunks for so long I had stopped watching basketball, but now I've got the Celtics. I'm still a huge Giants fan (we still have tickets to the games), but started rooting for the Patriots too when Parcells and then Belichick became their coach. It's a good time for sports right now here:) I also love playing sports and being active, but with a couple of bum knees, no arches, and two torn rotator cuffs, things have slowed down over the last few years. Good times. Sorry, that was neither quick nor painless. You got something for me???!!
