Ingrid's Story
Life
Grew up on Mill Lane in Levittown Long Island -- Wonderful neighborhood with lots of kids always running around. There was always someone to play with! And with sidewalks and most Mom's home to keep an eye out we had the freedom to run and play that kids today wouldn't even understand. Ah Youth! We moved to Emerson when I turned 13 and I made lots of new friends in School, Church (Church of the Savior in Paramus) and Sea Scouts! After graduation I went to Berkley Secretarial and Bergen Community. Got a job in the City for about a year and a half and then left to work at MedEc with the best group of folks anyone could ever work with! Now married with 4 boys (Jason & Richie 15, Mackie 12, Sean 9), 5 horses, dog, cats, chickens, rabbits, pidgeons in Oak Ridge, NJ -- I'm a stay at home Mom busy with my boys (3 autistic) and playing taxi for Boy Scouts, church, music lessons, camps, sports etc. Wouldn't trade my boys for anything in the world -- but wouldn't mind some more hours in the day to really enjoy it. Life is busy!
Workplace
Work? YUCK!LOL
Started off as a papergirl in Levittown during the worst winter! I'll never forget how from the knee down my jeans were sooooooo frozen when I took them off they stood up on their own! HA HA
Later I got a job at Korvettes department store on Rt 4 with Sue Gelman and Debbie Dunn that I went...Expand for more
to Berkley with. (Does ANYONE even remember this place?)
Later worked at Foodtown on Kinderkamack Road -- first as a cashier and then mainly in the Deli. Lots of fun folks at the store -- Mr. Cap, 'The Dutchman' in produce and Joey the Deli manager!
Then I went to WaWa in New Milford -- Some intresting people who taught me a little more about life.
Briefly I worked as a salesperson for Rainbow Vaccumm cleaners -- I didn't last long there -- I had trouble justifying trying to sell something (however good it worked) for the kind of money they were asking!
I finally got a job in NYC at Ecom Consultants in the Graybar building. Good work experience but I could do without looking out a window to see the brick wall of another building! Had more fun with ticketmaster Bob and the engineer on the train getting into work -- Plus -- I got to commute with my Dad in the morning -- How cool is that!
Ah MedEc! Great folks and the best place to play (I mean work!LOL) Wonderful camaraderie -- felt more like your extended family! Still love the building in Oradell better than Montvale -- I mean I literally just had to roll out of bed and down Soldier Hill Road into my building! Couldn't do much better than that! I had a blast there and made LOTS of great memories!
