Iris's Story
After leaving James Ward Elementary School, I went to the ALL girls Richards Vocational High School (the old location on 31st St, I think?). After graduating from Richards, I spent some time at the University of Illinois-Chicago campus (UIC), I stayed about 3 semesters, and I decided I was not ready for College yet.
My older sister relocated to Texas, and I decided to move to Texas too. After a while, I decided to join the Army. When I got out of the Army, I just remained in Texas. My parents also relocated to Texas, and I became their Caregiver. I have lived in San Antonio, TX longer than I lived in Chicago! I am glad I was here to be there for my parents. So, this is where I have been to this day.
I still miss Chicago, and while I think it is a great place to visit, I don't think I could ever live there again. I went back a few times to try to live there, and it was not good. My apartments got robbed twice, my purse was stolen twice on the train and I almost got accosted on the train by some weirdo once! (No one tried to help me!) No thanks, I think I will remain in ...Expand for more
Texas. Anyway, it is nice to remember the old times, but as they say: "you can NEVER go home again".
While living in Texas, I got 2 Bachelor’s of Science degrees. One degree was for Geology. (which I worked as a Geologist for about 5 years): the 2nd degree is in Criminology Science. (I tried so very hard to seek employment in this field, but I never made it!) I later found out that unless I was a Police Officer, the degree would be a very hard degree to get a job in! (I worked so hard in achieving this degree, only to find out I couldn’t use it.) That really made me mad because I worked so hard in achieving this degree! I could probably get employment in a bigger city or state. I rejected the idea, because I wanted to stay close to my parents; they were getting older and needed my help. So there you have it, “The Story of Me”.

I know this is off the subject, but is the old James Ward school haunted? I always thought it was! I wish I could visit the School and explore all the nooks and crannies! Send your comments, please! Thanks!
