Isaac Garate:  

Hello everyone. Greetings from "The tallest guy in Class of 1973." My only claim to fame. Now I'm just a Middle Age Hispanic Dude; that's right, Isaac Garate M.A.H.D. I'm thinking of getting some cards printed up. ( I credit that idea to Dr. Bill Hybles). My story is a simple one, but it's part of "The Greatest Story Ever Told." That's right, do you remember the movie? How about The Book? I went through one of the common "Roosevelt" routes: born at General Hospital, grew up in Boyle Heights around "Fresno Park" (it will always be Fresno to us); went to Lorena St. School, I was a "scrub" at Stevenson, graduated to Roosevelt where I played in the the Marching Band for three years ( under the direction of the late, great Ed Hosharian, not just a teacher but a friend and mentor). At Roosevelt I was also part of the basketball program with coach Munetones: Thanks Conrad, you were an inspiration to many of us. Although I never made it to the Varsity squad I had the privilege of knowing and hanging out with some excellent athletes, some of whom continue as friends today. Go figure.
