Isaac's Story
I went to Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT the fall of ¿69, and dropped out, to live in a commune in northeastern VT for three years. We lived in a large A-frame on the side of a mountain, x-country skiing in and out two miles during the long winters, and packing in manure for our gardens during the summer. Needless to say, I became buff for the first time in my life. The deep snow and interpersonal difficulties drove me to move into the valley, where I drank and drugged too much. In order to save my health, and pursue my dreams, I moved to Burlington in ¿75, graduating as a cello performance major in ¿80 from UVM. ro Retreat. I attended Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, MA, and got my RN in ¿87. I moved back to northeastern VT in ¿88 with my girlfriend Deborah. We bought a decaying brick house in North Danville, got married, and had a baby in ¿91. All this time I was working on Med/Surg at a local community hospital. We moved into St. Johnsbury in ¿05, so that Alexandra could attend the St. Johnsbury Academy inexpensively. Deborah and I divorced amicably in ¿08. Alexandra leaves in September for Stuttgart, Germany, where she will assist teach Kindergarten in a Waldorf School for a year. This September I will return to North Danville, in the boonies, where my heart lies. Alexandra will start college at Brandeis in the fall of ¿10.
