IV's Story

I am a grandma! I am a native of Oregon. Born in Portland. Went to Portsmouth elementary school, Roosevelt High and Wilson High School. I graduated in 1967 When I graduated I went to a trade school and graduated with a licence in 1969 shortly after my first child was born. My daughter and I lived with my folks for the first few years of her life while I tried to get us on our feet and out from under the parental thumb. I worked several jobs in my profession and several more that weren't. We finally got out on our own and that's when my life really started. My daughter was the center of my world. I will be forever grateful that she is my child. In Dec of 1977 I met my husband. We lived together for three years then got married in Nov of 1980. Not long after we bought our house, his young son came to live with us. Never let them tell you that blended families are easy. I was a stranger in a strange land. I had trouble parenting at first. I have since decided that I couldn't have asked for a better son. He means the world to me. When the kids grew up and left home, my husband and I decided that we were going to buy a house at the coast. We first looked at the most popular places on the Oregon Coast but didn't find anything. One day my father came back from a day at the coast and said he had found a house that would be a great idea for a beach house. He and my husband went down to see if they could figure out the floor plan and discovered it was for sale. He made a bid on it and my dad came up with a quick down payment for us. urchased the beach house in 1989. I loved that place so much. I loved to get the car packed friday morning so we could leave right after work. We had great times at the beach. I do miss that place and those times. In March of 1997, my husband left. By the end of the year we were divorced. It was the hardest time in my life. It remains the hardest thing I ever went through. I did go through though and I am one of the happiest people I know. It seems funny to think of but I think it was the hardest thing and the best thing all at once. I never knew I could be this happy. Ok... jump forward 2009 was the finest year of my life so far. In January my house was paid off. In June My daughter told me that I would become a grandmother. Her first child will be a boy. At the end of June I retired from my job of 15 years and in July I turned 60. Not to mention having a heat pump installed so I don't freeze my butt off in the winter anymore. Or roast to death in the summer. I became reacquainted with my younger cousin and she helped remodel my bathroom. Turns out she is a shining star in my life I have the bestest friend anyone could ever have living right next door to me and I can't think of anything better than having my life and my dear friends so close. Cause I wouldn't have a damn thing if it weren't for my friends and family. I love you ... you know who you are. Thank you addendum: My grandson Adrian. I didn't know ho much he would bring into my life. I am overwhelmed by love for this child. Tomorrow he will be a year old. So precious..
