J-nae's Story

Life Well... life since high school has been *crazy!* My mom went to prison 2 weeks after I graduated. For a whole year all I did was PARTY and do crazy, stupid things just to do them! I only had one job then, that lasted not even 2 whole months, and I got evicted from 2 apartments within a month of living in them. I jumped from house to house, staying with friends, and then on May 12th 2005 (my mom's 43rd birthday) I found out that I was 11 weeks pregnant. I moved to Harrisburg in June. I had a little boy named Quincey Nathaniel on December 31st 2005. He was my gift for the New Year, and in turn, my resolution was to be a good mother, and so far I believe I have been. He's been such an amazing addition to my life and had I not done all that I did during that year he wouldn't be here, so I'm grateful for my mistakes, as well. I moved into a housing program in the YWCA in Harrisburg. It's for women who need a little help getting their lives together. I'm living in Harrisburg. I work at Crowne Plaza Harrisburg-Hershey and I LOVE it there. I might get my degree in Hotel Management and start my own chain. *LoL* I meet *lots* of interesting/famous people there, which is nice, and all my co-workers are great. I got a promotion to Front Office Supervisor, and a decent little raise to go with it!! Life is okay for now... still much to be done, but can't rush it. That's me up until now... School God, I miss High School so much that it's not even funny. Everything was so simple then. It was all about partying and hanging out with friends, going in town, and finding new guys to chill with. I loved all my friends and every second of every single day when I was in high school. There...Expand for more
were responsibilities, of course, but none so much that if you weren't responsible you would lose your place to live or your job. The teachers had to keep you no matter what, as long as you weren't threatening to them, LoL! I would do it all again twice if I could, and you wouldn't even have to press the issue... just as long as all my friends would be doing it again too. I would do it for the sake of doing it better, and also, reliving the best time of my life. I never thought school would end. I mean, hey, we were in school for 13 years (some of us longer, LoL), and when it was finally all over I was feeling a mix of excitement and complete fear! What would we do without those rules? Those guidelines that were made FOR us, not BY us? We all went in different directions. Some of us didn't graduate, some of us did, some of us got jobs, some of us went to the welfare office... it's still just a bit scary, to think about where we all ended up. There's people I haven't talked to in forever, and I wonder where they are and what they're doing. Workplace I work at the Crowne Plaza Harrisburg-Hershey. I am Front Office Supervisor. I love my job and *most* of the people I work with, it's such a fun job and I made decent money for actually enjoying what I do. I've always been good at working with people, and that's what I do all day every day at the hotel. It's hard sometimes because people can be difficult, but all in all, at the end of the day, I wouldn't dream of not going back tomorrow! Update: *** 4/12/08 *** I've been attending AIU Online, majoring in Business Management since February. I will graduate in March of 09. Still working at the Crowne Plaza. Same old, same old.
