Jackie's Story
Life
Married in 1977 (still married) and have 5 children ages 24-35 (4 daughters and 1 son). Settled in Corona, CA after the military and have been here ever since. Been very happy as a stay at home mom and 17 years of providing day care to other kids has let me continue to stay home. Update- Now up to 10 grandchildren!
School
I attended Central Park Road School in Plainview LI, NY up to the 5th grade. My folks moved us to Parsippany that summer. Went to Troy Hills Elementary for 6th grade with Mr. Lusk. Then was part of the mess of having us attend Brooklawn for 7th and Central for 8th. Had to keep leaving friends behind. After graduating the Hills I attended Ladycliff College in New York with Diane Weber as my roommate.
College
3 great years at Ladycliff College in Highland Falls, NY. Majoring in Social Sciences with a minor in Elementary Education. Wish I knew then that time flies and to make...Expand for more
the most of it. One of the best times of my life. School is no longer there; it is now the visitors center for West Point Military Academy. Originally had plans to finish school but priorities changed and now I'm very happy with where my life has taken me. No plans on a degree at this time in my life.
Workplace
Worked at Greenhill Cleaners in Lake Parsippany during HS. That was a nightmare! Did summer work during college at Broadway Dept. store in CA. After marrying and while living in Panama, I was a pre-school teacher for 2 years. After my 4th child was born I became a licensed Daycare Home and worked at that for 17 years (took care of around 60 kids). Now enjoying retirement for a while.
Military
Wasn't in the military myself, but my husband was an officer in the army (West Point grad). That amounted to 5 years (1977-1982). We lived in Fort Sill, OK; the Canal Zone in Panama; Fort Bliss, TX.
