Jaclyn's Story
I am currently retired and devoting much time to introspection. I recall, with fondness, the time I spent at Libbey, so many long years ago. After graduating from Libbey, I attended Spelman College, in Atlanta, and Wayne State University, in Detroit (BA English 1976). I lived in California (San Francisco, Los Angeles and Palo Alto) from 1977-1989, where, among other things, I completed graduate programs at UCLA (teaching credential 1981) and Stanford University (JD 1989). , although sometimes it seems as though I never returned (having commuted to work in Detroit, for 25 years) and sometimes it seems as though I never left (as the passing years have blurred the memories of life in other places). I have one daughter, who is the light of my life and who is in the process of completing a doctoral program in African and African American Studies. I was fortunate to travel with her to Ghana and South Africa, as she pursued her studies. No grandchildren yet, but I am still hopeful.
