jacob's Story
jacob is from Bakersfield, California. My schools include Orosi High School. I later attended Reedley College where I majored in Administration of Justice. After High School I enlisted in the U S Army and I spent approximately 25 years in, 2 years active and 23 years in the California National Guard. I retired in 1995 from the Guards as a Staff Sergeant, E-6! I took Basic Boot Camp and Advance Individual Training at Ft. Ord, Ca. I was then sent to Ft Benning, Gegoria and became a Paratrooper. I was then sent to the Republic of Vietnam in 1971 and was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade and served with Delta Company, 2nd-503rd. In July 1971 my unit was pulled out of Vietnam and we were sent to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. The 173rd Airborne Birgade Colors were cased and we became part of the 101 Airborne Unit, (Screaming Eagles) In February of 1972, I got out of the Regular Army on the Early Release Program and joined California National Guards. After approximately two years in the Guards, I changed my MOS, (Military Occupational Skill) to a Cook, which I was for 21 years until my retirement. I rose from Cook, First Cook to Mess Steward. In 1977 while attending Reedley College I placed an application with the Orange Cove Police Dept. and in November 1977, I was hired as a Reserve Police Officer. he College of Sequioas Police Academy and graduated with the 40th Class in July of that same year. I worked as a Patrolman in the City of OC until I got promoted as the Juvenile Detective approximately a year later. In June of 1981 I lateral transferred to the Tulare County Sheriff''s Dept. I started as a Jailer working the Main Jail in Visalia, then in 1983 I was transferred to the Orosi Substation as a Patrol Deputy. In August 1994 I was promoted as a Detective and assigned to the Homicide Unit. I was reassigned to the Property Investigstion Unity as a Detective and investigated mostly White Collar crimes for the next 10 years. I then spent approximately 6 months assigned to the Court Services as a Bailiff. In 2006 I was reassigned to the Porterville Substation and was the Administration Deputy until my retirement in Dec. 2012 after 31 1/2 with the Sheriff Department. I now live in the north west part of Orosi in the out skirts and I'm farming 11 1/2 acres of pomegranates although I have 20 acres. In May 1998 I got remarried for the second time to Mary Frances Sellers and we have five children together, two from my first marraiage, two step sons and we have a daughter together. We have five grandchildren, two girls and three boys. In July 14, of 2017 I was Blessed and became a great grandfather. My granddaughter gave birth to my great granddaughter Alice May Bartadro!!!
