Jacqueline's Story
Life
Hi ex-classmates - or anyone who is scoping profiles. I am living in Charlotte, North Carolina working as an IT consultant with Bank of America. I'm not sure if it will go permanent but it sure is BLOODY HOT down here compared to lovely New England! I've enjoyed chatting with those who have contacted me from the old alma mater so please do drop me a line - especially if you are anywhere near this area! I am listed in local phonebook. Have seen Rick and Beth Anderson ('76) who live a couple hours away at Pisgah Academy where RICK is principal. Rick let me crash at the academy while I looked for jobs in area although I ended up here somewhat by accident, applying for a job while on vacation and couldn't resist the high contracting salary offered. It is a totally different lifestyle here though. I miss my erudite Boston activities badly. Southern hospitality does not exist in Charlotte - Southern politeness, but not hospitality. I keep in touch with local PVA updates through Cindy Hagopian - my one steady HS contact since PVA days. Parents are still living in Vermont and I get home frequently. Hobbies include voracious reading, jewelry making, hat design, soap/bath product creation (a fun side business), porcelain artwork (I have a couple kilns), animal foster care and attempting to slow down a bit and go work-permanent (as oppo...Expand for more
sed to contracting) to allow my becoming a foster parent or potential adoptive single parent. Never had the maternal bug when married since husband didn't, but grew attached to two very young Kenyan boys being raised recently by my parents - and SURPRISE! The 5 y.o. grew inordinately attached to me and I grew in love with him. Never planned that one but would be nice to have someone to lavish the paychecks on instead of just self. Still trying to decide what I want to do when I grow up. Started out as English teacher due to my love of reading/literature but ended up sideways in Computers, technical training, and consulting. Had a great job that was total travel, based out of Georgetown DC and working IT for a hotel management company that was a week here and a week there at glorious resort spots all over the US. Had 2 weeks in New Orleans prior to Katrina - so sad to see it now! Strange to see how different things turned out after our childhood hopes and dreams - and how young the highschoolers look now when we considered ourselves so grownup and ahead of our time back in the New Braintree days. If we only knew then... Well, I am rambling. This is a slow day I guess and I am nostalgic just seeing some of the names on this site list. If you can, keep in touch please and let me know how some of my friends are doing these days.
