Jacquelyn's Story

My story...um, gee that will be a short one!! After graduation from Owasso, I went to Claremore JC for a year then started working at St. Francis in Tulsa as a unit secretary. I was dating Mark Royster at the time, and after he graduated from CJC, he wanted to move to Stillwater (Go Pokes!!) to finish his degree in accounting. So we move to Stillwater, Mark lived with my brother, Roger, and Mark Bledsoe. I lived with Cindy Lundsford (Sequoyah High Grad. from Claremore) for 2 years until she and Billy Spears got married. I then moved in with a crazy chick from Lincoln, Nebraska, who had more money than God...I am, at this point, working at Stillwater Med Center as a phlebotomist (drawing blood), going to school at OSU (Go Pokes!!), applied to OU (BOO Sooners) to their nursing program, got accepted, but decided to stay in Stillwater and go to LPN school (big mistake, should've gone on to OU even though I HATE OU, but at least I would have been done!!). Mark and I, had unfortunately broken up (entirely my fault), so I go on to LPN school. I met my husband, after dating a couple of TOADS), and got married 1 week before I graduated from LPN school. We moved to Edmond, started working at Edmond Med. Center in ICU. Worked in the unit for 10 years, while I had 2 kids, and went back to school to get my Nursing degree. Richard and I went back at the same time, graduated together, sat for boards together, and passed boards together...So now I'm a RN, and I transfer to the ER at Edmond....Now Richard and I are working together!!! Different shifts though, so one of us was always with the kids (fortunately they never spent a single day in day care!). I was the Lead Charge Nurse on Nights in the ER for 8.5 years. During this time, the OKC bombing occurred...I took care of quite a few of the victims, and I can honestly say that was one of the most difficult days in my career...How does one make sense out of something so senseless....Evidently, it affected me more than I knew at the time...One month to the day after the bombing, I was diagnosed with MS. Not knowing what course the MS was going to play in my life, I decided to go back to school...So I go to UCO, get my bachelor's and then my master's in Forensic Nursing...Unfortunately in Oklahoma, there aren't any jobs for Forensic nurses, and the ones that are available don't pay even close to what I am making now...So why not move out of Ok??? My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer 5 years ago, although to look at her you would never know anything was wrong, the cancer has spread to her liver, stomach, and lymph glands. She is st...Expand for more
ill on Chemo and will be for as long as she wants to be...My dad is still living, is blind, deaf, and has had multiple strokes from not taking care of his diabetes when he was younger and could have! Mom is still taking care of him at home, which (I feel) is why she is still taking the Chemo despite the side effects it causes. Anyway, that is why I still live in OK, and am working in the ER at Midwest City....My kids are Shannon (24) a student at UCO majoring in public relations and is living with her "intended", MacGregor (Old family name) who is also a student at UCO majoring in graphic design (he is also a very talented artist!)...My son, Jared (21), is a student of life...He doesn't know what he wants to do with his life, so he is in a state of disequilibrium...I am sure he will find his passion and be successful no matter what he chooses... I have been married now for 27 years to Richard, we have 1 dog (Princess, a rat terror, who believes she is THE princess of the home....she is Richard's dog, which is good, because if she were mine, I would have traded her in on one that doesn't snip and bite everytime someone walks by her...Can you tell I'm not fond of this particular dog???). Update: I now have my own puppy, Dali! She is a "Dorkie"! Absolutely the most beautiful, smartest, and sweetest puppy around!(See her picture??) I have six Betta's (Japanese fighting fish, although I do NOT fight them) who are absolutely gorgeous!! Their names are Bird (Shannon named him)((No longer named Bird..His new name is Max (Baer)), George (Forman), Ali (the one and only, "floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee"), Jack (Dempsey), Evander (Holyfield) and Mike (Tyson). Who knows I might get more of them, they are quiet, don't bite, don't pee or poop on the carpet, don't have to take them to the vet for shots every year, don't make a mess....I'm thinking the perfect pet....although they really aren't in to being petted, and snuggling with them is a little tricky....OK, so maybe they aren't the perfect pet, but they are still very aesthetically pleasing....Update number 2 (November, 2008): I started working at Edmond Medical Center again in September, 2008. Shannon and MacGregor are no longer together! Who knows why, but as long as she is happy that is all that matters! Jared is doing great, working hard and being the greatest person he can be! Pretty much my story in a nutshell....Typical and Boring on a day to day basis...I seek my fun as a traveler (not a tourist) and have been quite fortunate in being able to travel to many different areas...That however is another story....
