JJ (Jake)'s Story

I "landed" in Houston in 1979, after a couple of years of drifting around. At the time, Houston was on the tail end of the 1970's oil boom and casual day labor was easy to get. Being homeless isn't so bad, if you have a little money in your pocket, are healthy and it doesn't get too cold. It gets old soon enough, but it's not without it's share of adventures as well. ing to only pass through Houston on my way to San Diego, I ended up spending the next 30 years here. I'm now known as J.J. Hitt (too many Texan's murdered my name by drawling it out that it made sense to give them something they COULD pronounce). Married and burried a woman in Texas (and boy howdy can I ever say a few things about bereavement), have two fine daughters and a grand-daughter.

My day starts with this view of God and Country, Faith and Patriotism. I'm in Mississippi, a state most famous for slavery and fighting to destroy the nation.
I was expecting a Corolla and the rental company gave me a cop car.
