James's Story
Life
After High School I kicked around for awhile with then girlfriend now wife Christine Kadner. Graduated from Loyola in 95 with a degree in mathematics/computer science and headed out to Silicon Valley, California with 2 army duffle bags of clothes and little else. CC and I lived out there for about 4 years until the birth of our son Jaz and came back to Midwest suburban hell to be close to the family. We had a daughter, Sophie, in 2003 and I earned my MBA in 2004. We live in the western suburbs with our 2 shar-pei dogs and spend most of our time just hanging out in our never ending project of a back yard (putting in an in-ground pool in the spring), driving around in the family convertible or jamming in our basement fitted with stage, disco ball and PA. As soon as sophie is old enough to be intelligible we'll have our own band.
Life is good!
School
I don't remember a whole ot from High-School but fortunately my good buddy Lara (nee Keero) Elliott reminds me of all the stupid shit I did. If I was dick to you I apologize and blame it on the foolishness of youth. I don't remember any crushes, but Monsieur Lindvall, my French teacher, was by far the most inspiring. d never go back to high school for a million zillion dollars. Craziest memory (that I can recall) is lying semi-conscious in the Wes Hsu's backyard and heaving my guts out while my band was supposed to be playing at a party at his house. Thanks to Emily Fairchild for keeping me from chokig on my own vomit. Maybe there's a good reason I don't remember high school :O
College
I started out at UW-Madison, but after some felony activity and 2 semesters in Kappa Sigma I dropped out on double secret academic probation. After a couple years working I finally finished up my undergrad at Loyola in Chicago so I could get a job that didn't require a name tag and a paper hat. Stupidest move in college was (allegedly) throwing a couch out of a 9th story dorm window and getting arrested by the MPD.
Workplace
After finally finishing college in '95 (just 7 short years after high school...heh) I headed out to Silicon Valley and did software development for a few years during the Dot Com boom. Got out just in time and came back to Chicagoland. These days I manage large-scale software development programs for a large publisher of educational assessments and psychological diagnostic instruments.
