James's Story
Jim is from Garden City, New York. He is a widower, formerly married to Marcy Handsfield. His schools include Leysin American School. He later attended San Diego State University and UCLA. He works(ed) at retired from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He’s into photography and real BBQ
James's interests include Retired, Music, Soccer Officiating. Music he likes includes Classical, Bluegrass music, Show tunes. Books he likes include The Lord of the Rings, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter. Movies he likes include Les Misérables, Avatar. TV shows he likes include Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Tulane University in New Orleans, majoring in political science. For extracurricular involvement, he's the General Manager of the campus radio station, WTUL. He's also working for the digitization project to preserve historic jazz sheet music and interning for Sen. Mary Landrieu's reelection campaign. He has been active campaigning for President Obama and other Democratic candidates.
A significant aspect of our life is that Marcy was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (AKA ALS, AKA Lou Gehrig's Disease) a year and a half ago and we're dealing with all that means. We're doing a lot of traveling (last three trips: a cruise from Quebec City to Newfoundland, Sydney, Halifax, etc., ending with a stop at Bar Harbor Maine and ending in Boston. Next was a trip to friends in San Diego followed by a drive to spend some time in Napa Valley tasting wines, and then several days in Yosemite staying at the Ahwanee Hotel. Then just a couple weeks ago we spent ten days on Kauai, mostly on the south side near Poipu Beach. Look me up on Flickr and you can see some photos from these trips.
Now getting ready to do some home modification for the time when Marcy can no longer use the stairs.
