James's Story
College
I spent 2 years in electrical apprenticeship training at swocc and then finished with 2 years of study in a privately taught class. After my apprenticeship I started my own electrical contracting business which I ran for 10 years and then sold. I worked for an engineering co. in Eugene Or. for 6 months and the I went to work for the State of Oregon Building Codes Division where I am currently employed.
I still attend class at S.W.O.C.C on occasion. I spent about 1 1/2 years getting certified as an E.M.T. Intermediate I also am a certified Firefighter 1.
My other certs are General Journeyman Electrician, General Supervisor Electrician, Cabo certified Electrical Inspector and A level Electrical Inspector ( commercial ). I am also an Inspector m...Expand for more
ember of th International Association of Electrical Inspectors. I hope to find time in the near future to complete a degree in Apprenticeship Trades.
I have most of the credits already but never seem to find the time to catch up on some of the basic bonehead classes.
Maybe by the time I retire???
Workplace
I worked for Horton Bros. Electric for 3 1/2 years. I then went to work for Mills Electric for 6 months. After that I started James Harrell Electric with my Dad. I bought him out a couple years later when he moved to Arkansas and I ran the co. with my Wife for ten Years. I sold the business and went to work for Mortier Engineering for 6 months and then I went to work for the State of Oregon Building Codes Division where I am currently employed.
