James Steven's Story
Back as a resident ofJohnston County for the past 4 years. Left at the age of 18 and returned 50 years later when I retired.
Lived in Greenville, Charleston, Raleigh, Statesville, Goldsboro, Fayetteville, Huntsville, AL, Charlotte, Holly Springs, Hanover, MD, and now near Selma on our family farm, which has been in our family since before the Civil War.
We remodeled a farmhouse that my Great Uncle Stephen built, next to his Dads house when he married in 1922.
My first cousin, a chemist at RTP by trade farms the land for us as a hobby. He tends about 80 acres of land with another cousin who is an IT professional in RTP
We have one son, Michael, a Professor of Rhetorical Criticism at the College of Charleston. He and his bride Erin have twin daughters soon to be age 10, and have the sorrow of burying our 5 ye...Expand for more

Sam was the apple of my eye and our twins are just adorable.
I retired from the North Carolina League of Municipalities in 97 and spent almost two years working for the Maryland League of Cities as a consultant for a former Boss and friend of 40 years who needed someone with my expertise to help while we found a replacement for an open position.
My bride for the last 46 years is a retired School Teacher, originally from Pittsburg. We met and married in Statesville.
We spend the winters and do a good bit of traveling in a 40 ft RV.
I went to ECU studying Engineering and was a Captain in the USAF.
My career ended up being in claims and Risk Management for 40+ years, and was promoted and transferred a bit too many times, but we really enjoyed everywhere we have lived.
