James's Story
Life
I am probably one of the few in the class of 61 who is not retired. I am Program Manager for the Federal Office of Child Support and work in Dallas, Texas. I am married to Maria (for over 23 years) She is a Yankee from Philadelphia. We have son Nicholas 21(senior in college)and stepson Michael 35 who lives in Wylie. I envy those reired as my brother John is retired and says "Everyday is Saturday"
School
I want get into the crush thing, but Mr. Beck certainly inspired me in history and I have loved history ever since as he made it interesting and I can still remember some of his phrases. College
I went to Texarkana Jr. College the first two years with Eddie Pounds, Irvin Joe Turner, Mike Jester, brother John and others. I was lucky and got a track scholarship to Memphis State for the next two years and then went to U of Tennessee and got Masters in social work.
Workplace
I work for Federal Government. I previously worked for Arkansas Social Services but moved to Dallas in 1973 and work for Federal Office of Child Support and we cover a five state area, AR, LA, NM, OK and TX. We basically oversee State Child Support Programs.
Military
I was in Air Force Reserves along with others from Ashdown including John Mills, Melvin Turner, William Lloyd Turner etc. We went each month and two weeks of summer to Barksdale AFB in LA.
