James's Story
It is hard to believe we that Class of 69 is approaching our 50th year of graduation. Where have the years gone. The memories of roaming the halls of the REAL Male High School are so fresh in my mind.
It has been a wonderful life since my Male High school days at Brook & Breckingridge. I have spent most of my life since those days working in the radio and tv broadcast industry with some time spent in restaurant management. I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people over the years who have made such an impact on my life.
I have been married twice. I was fortunate enough to have married a Male High alumnus from the early 60's. I have five children (2 Step children) and 13 wonderful grandchildren and one great grandchild. Spend a lot of my days with family.
In 2007, I was diagnosed with a pancreatic cyst and and in 2008 had surgery for pancreatic cancer. In January of 2014 I was released by my oncologist to keep on living and experience new and greater things in my senior years. However, in May of 2015, I was diagnosed and had surgery...Expand for more
for kidney and bladder cancer. Surprisingly recovery wasn't as quick as previous cancer surgery. At any rate, I did not allow these health issues keep me from moving forward and enjoying every moment that life offers.
In August 2016, I decided it was time for me to fully retired from working. I had semi-retired in 2000 but continued to work off and on part-time.
Now I spend my retirement years with kids, grandkids, biking everyday and spend a lot of time enjoying amateur (ham) radio communicating with other hams around the world directly or through satellites and astronauts aboard the Internation Space Station, software programming, photography, videography compiling my biccycle adventured on social media.
Still have plans in 2018 - 19 for longer bicycle tours around the country, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvannia, New York, Canada and points west.
Most of my bicycle travels local and beyond can be view on my blog Jim's Bicycle Adventures at jimsba.blogspot.com. Come visit my blog and learn just because we are in our 60's there is still so much life to live.
