Jamie's Story
Life
I was born on January 1st of 1979 in a blizzard. I grew up with humble beginnings, in a lower middle class neighborhood and attended public schools all my life. My parents were laborers. Our family had little money, but my parents did their best. I always loved the arts and music from a young age, and this was encouraged by my family. I entered high school and developed a drinking problem. I did very well in school and picked up the guitar and started writing music. I excelled in high school and moved on to college with my best friend hillary for the first two years, and majored in industrial art, then philosophy. I moved on to columbia college in chicago, hillary to the sorbonne in Paris. I changed to documentary film, made movies, continued to write music, and developed a drug problem. I moved around a lot, traveled the united states and some of europe, and ended up squatting a store-front with a large group of street punks in the inner city, and my drug problem developed and became worse - my helalth deterioated, legal problems ensued, etc. I continued to do well in school however. d finished school in 2003 with a degree in documentary film. My best friend hillary teaches in Paris. I work for a small, independent web development/email marketing software company currently, I'm living back in my hometown with my fiance in an apartment downtown, and plan on moving in a couple of years after I save up, to Dublin, Ireland; Sweeden; Montreal, Canada; or Oakland, CA. My songwriting has come along, I write and record accoustic albums, am involved in activism, and I am still practicing filmmaking which I hope to make my career someday after I internship in the spring of 2005.

College
Went to University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign for the first 2 years. Majored in Industrial Art, then switched to Philosophy. Mostly studied liberal arts - a lot of philosophy, sociology/history, and astronomy, etc. Transferred to Columbia College Chicago and moved there in 1999. Lived in many many different neighborhoods, majored in Documentary film, finally got my degree recently, in 2003, moved back to my home town of Joliet with my fiance. Currently working, saving, to move west, hopefully in 2 years.
