Jamie's Story
Life
I live in Monroe, Louisiana with my Husband James and our Children, Jason age 15, Victoria age 5, Jacob age 3, LaLA age 19 months. In January of last year we purchased our first home. A newly renovated, Victorian Farm house out in the country, which is perfect for our constantly growing family. My husband and I are Foster/Adoptive parents for the State Of Louisiana. We specialize in Medically needy children who have HIV/AIDS. Though this is a full time job, my husband is a licensed Minister, Notary Public, AFLAC sales rep., and employed by Walmart. Most of our time is spent with our children and all that this implies. We have a truly beautiful Garden full of plants from the original owners so many years ago, so my love of gardening is put to use. I enjoy Oil Painting and working with Clay. I am completely obsessed with Classical Music, though my teenager makes sure I am up on all the new music and the classics which he enjoys, such as Nirvana. This makes me quite aware of the fact that I am getting old! My son plays a 58' Les Paul and is beyond obsessed, so whether I like it or not, I am quite knowledgable when it comes to guitars and different playing methods. This ofcourse also necessitates the house out in the country! We plan to have...Expand for more
a very large family, including several more adopted children and our own. We cannot say how many because there are so many we foster and would love to keep forever. Working to bring families back together is our lifes work. When this does not happen we make the children part of our own family, and it just keeps growing. We have had many pets over the last several years, the only one who has decided to stay is our 12 year old Dog Trooper. If any of you knew me in high school he was a puppy then.
I moved to Monroe in 98' to complete the Social Work Program at ULM. I wound up teaching Elementary School in the Private sector. This only lasted about 2 years before I got the itch for Social Work again. This time it was just in a different way.
I turned 30 this year, it is so amazing how quickly time flies. It is like I blinked and now look where I am. When my husband proposed marriage I wanted one more child, and hoped for a little girl. When he said he wanted 3, I thought he was insane. This is one of our biggest laughs. When the phone rings and someone says they have a little one for us, we can never say no. I would have never in a million years believed that this what I would wind up doing with my life. My husband and I call it our Nitch :)
