Jamie's Story
Life
After I graduated high school I started college at Armstrong Atlantic University as a Computer Science major. One year into the program I wasn't sure if I wanted to do computer programming or accounting so I switched to Georgia Southern University's College of Business and after a few computer courses and accounting courses I decided that computing was meant for me. :) I graduated in 2002 with a BBA in Information Systems. The job market was difficult right after 9/11 hit so it took me from July 2002 to Dec 2002 before I was accepted into a Software Engineering program with VeriSign Inc. I went to Armstong for 6 months and if I graduated the program with at least a 3.0 GPA I was guaranteed employment as a Software Engineer at VeriSign in Savannah. That program was the toughest thing I have done so far in my life!! It was mentally and physically exhausting as they crammed 2 years worth of difficult Computer Science courses into a 6 month curriculum. The good news I struggled through it and landed a great job. ever day college life to the fast pace corporate world... After almost 4 years now I love my job! It is very exciting, fast paced, and always challenging. I am a Software Engineer level III that manages a team of developers. Our business unit writes billing software for wireless carriers and I manage Application Support for Data services on cell phones/PDAs. My job is high stress and is very similar to a hospital's ER on a very busy day as we deal with real-time production issues that are revenue impacting to our clients, but luckily it comes in peaks and valleys so there are slow days, but not many. :)
I married my high school sweetheart I started dating at 16 Lonnie Ennis 2 weeks after I graduated from college. We are true soul mates!! When I finished school and started working at VeriSign he had decided to change careers and is currently working on becoming a Nurse RN. I will be glad when he is done! We bought our first home here in Pooler in May of 2006 and just love it. We hope to start a family once Lonnie has finished up his program hopefully in another year.
