Jan's Story
Life
After DHS, I went to Salisbury State University, where I graduated with a degree in Communication Arts. I took a job at a D.C. radio station (WMZQ) as a promotions assistant and stayed there for about a year and a half. The hours were brutal, and I left in 1997 to work in MCPS as a media assistant. I also started grad school in 1997, which is where I met my husband, Mark. We were married in 2001, and have 2 children: Timmy, who is proud to announce that is 2 and a half, and Molly, who is almost 9 months old now. We love life in Frederick County, and are always in the middle of some home renovations. Currently, a 2 car garage addition.
College

appiest memories are from being Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, The Flyer. I also used to love going to Ocean City during the off season just for the drive. Started grad school at Bowie State Shady Grove Campus to become a school guidance counselor. I earned a ton of credits, but never finished the program there...sort of changed my direction after I met my future husband Mark, also in the Bowie program. I started the School Library Media program at then Western Maryland College (now McDaniel) and graduated on my son's 1st birthday! Worked briefly as a school library media specialist in MCPS before taking maternity leave to have Molly. Now I enjoy (mostly!) staying home with the kids.
