Jan's Story
Life
I have been very happily married to Dennis since 1972. He truly is my better half!
We have two wonderful daughters who have terrific spouses, and we have two adorable grandsons, too. We have lived in Buffalo Grove since 1977.
School
In high school, I was inspired by the late John Palm at Niles East and another English teacher at Niles North.
I remember Chemistry with Mr. Cardulla. It was a difficult class for me, and my lab partner was John Look.
My most enjoyable and memorable moments were spent working on the Niles North newspaper. We had a lot of laughs, and I still remember most of our "group," including Peter Wible (now Wyble).
College
I met my husband, Dennis, the first day of school my sophomore year at N.I.U., and my life changed forever. We created so many happy memories together. For example, Dennis and his friends taught me how to play pinochle, and we played almost every school night at the Un...Expand for more

Workplace
I am the Administrative Assistant for students at Attea Middle School in Glenview, District #34. I am completing my eighth year with them.
Prior to that, I worked for 17 years at a JCPenney Catalog Call Center in Buffalo Grove as a trainer and supervisor. I found it even more challenging to train adults rather than children. This was a wonderful position while our daughters were growing. It also gave me the opportunity to make life-long friendships with some very special people.
Before children, I taught English, grades 7-8, in Chicago and Mt. Prospect. I also taught creative writing, social studies,and reading. I supervised the school newspaper, and in summer school, I taught typing for five years.
Military
When my husband, Dennis, served in Viet Nam, I felt like the best part of me went with him. However, I never served.
