Janet's Story
Greetings from Penn Valley, CA. I am married to my husband Dave (30 years) and we have four children between us. We lived in SoCal for 15 years in La Habra Heights, then aboard our boat Tesuji, a Transpac 49 ketch, in Newport Harbor and then Long Beach. All the kids lived aboard at one time in their life with us. Our goal was to cruise the world but when Dave's early retirement came through he decided against it much to my objections.
What we did do though was sell the 49 foot fiberglass ketch and bought a classic wood ketch and moved to Lummi Island, WA for 5 years and cruised the San Juan and Gulf Islands during the summers up there. Island living was a lot of fun and I still miss it there but Dave was tired of having to pay the rising ferry costs and wanted to have easier travel access. The ferry only runs on a limited schedule so you had to plan everything around that.
So we moved to the mainland in August of 2006 to a rural area called Bow, WA nestled in the foothills off of Blanchard/ Chuckanut Mounta...Expand for more
ins. We gardened out hearts out, Dave continued to enjoy his woodturning club, and I volunteered a lot of time with helping kids through horse therapy. After three wet summers in a row, we had gotten tired of the rain and in 2012 moved back to California. We had sold our beautful wood ketch and bought an Island Packet Cutter rigged sloop which we shipped to Ventura to liveaboard again and figure out what the next step was. We searched high and low in Washington, Oregon and California and we landed at Lake Wildwood in Penn Valley, CA. We found our perfect place for the next stage of our life
We have been very involved in our new community through the Gold Country Welcome Club in the Computer, Photography, Kayaking and Hiking Groups. Dave is on the board of the Gold Country Wood Turners and I just joined the board of the Gold Country Welcome Club. Busy, busy and so wonderful.
Well, that is the last of our update. Good Health, make good memories and good friends and peace to you all.
