Jane's Story
Life
I'm newly married and still living in Hamilton. I guess my roots are deep. I own a house in the Mercerville area. It keeps me busy! Myhusband is a great guy! I work for the State of NJ, Office of Information Technology as a computer programmer/analyst. I've got a dog named Honey and spend time gardening, traveling, partying, making home improvements, watching sports, and reading. I am still very active in my church, as a choir member, sub-deacon, and Sunday school teacher. I travel as often as possible - mostly within the continental US. Hey, I wouldn't want to waste all the vaca time us State Workers get.
School
I changed schools a lot, since my parents moved several times. It was never easy being the 'new girl'. But someone 'newer' eventually comes along. I was a nerdy, skinny girl that no one paid much attention to, at least not positive attention. I wore glasses and did well in school - very unattractive qualities in a young girl. I still like books and no longer think intelligence is a negative quality. Still I had good friends. Thanks Beth, Kathy, and Sue! TR Forever! Things got better in High School, especially after I transferred to West in my junior year. Thanks Karen, Todd, and Lori.
Best Memories: Mr. Taylor's art class, Disco lessons, cutting study hall, School play, Going to Stewarts instead of training for Track, West vs. East, Pep club, Decorating football players houses, Teen Arts Fest.

t memories: Lwr Jr High's pepto-bismol-pink cafeteria, Mrs. Wright's 6th grade class, picking teams in PE, taking the SATs
College
Socially, I came into my own in college. It's amazing I ever graduated! College was the quintessential party. Sometimes I wish I had balanced my studies, working, and the parties better. But it hasn't done me any harm. The only people who talk about their GPAs are the people with a 3.5+. The rest of us just open another beer and toast their happiness.
Best memories: Frat parties at NJIT, the Rat, Water fights in the dorm, Football games, Co-rec volleyball, Homecoming, Springfest.
Worst memories: Term papers, Finals, high school kids jamming the Cafeteria.
Best roommates: Lorie & Mark (soph. yr) and Cathy (jr. & sr. yrs).
Best Friends: Kathy, Lisa, Bob
Workplace
I've worked for the State of NJ; Office of Information Technology since December 1986. Gee, the years go by in a flash. My systems are very volatile, and we always have more work than we can handle. I have never experienced 'State worker' mentality; it's non-existent here. We are 'on call' 24x7. I've pulled all-nighters and even worked on Christmas Day & New Years' Eve. How did I ever believe that work would be easier than school? We were so naive! I get very stressed out and that's why I wish I could retire (10 years to go). However, I can't complain about my salary and the benefits are great. Plus I have great friends here!
