jane's Story
Was a Paralegal for 35 years. I was married to Steven Freed for 7 years. He died of a heart attack in 1991 at age 40. He had been a City of Bethlehem Police Officer. Unfortunately, I had my parents with me for 10 years. They suffered many health problems as a result of Steven's death.
My parents both passed away in 2002. I had breast cancer in 2004. It is now 2014 and I am a survivor and doing well. I have arthritis from the cancer drugs, but I am so lucky to be alive. I have a daughter and grandson who live in Louisiana. In 2004 I met Dennis who was divorced with 3 boys still in school. I quit my job, sold my house and moved in with him and the 3 boys. 2014 and I am still here. Life is challenging, but God never gives you more than you can handle. At the end of the day, I have a lot of love in my life from Dennis, my daughter & grandson, and my stepsons. I semi-retired 6 years ago. Since then I drive a school van transporting special needs children. It certainly doesn't pay what I earned as a Paralegal. However, in many ways the kids make it all worthwhile. I have met so many wonderful families and their kids the past 6 years. I thank God every day for all the blessings that I have in my life.
