Janet's Story
After graduation I attened Keypunch school, which now is Data Entry. lol That really show's my age. Worked two jobs to get experience so I could try to get on in the Mills making better money. Met first husband while working downtown Hammond. That was short lived. Finally got on at Inland after my Dad passed away in 66. Loved my job and all the people that I worked with. This is also where I met my second hubby of almost 38 years. Got laid off from Inland and worked for awhile at Youngstown back then it was called. Worked there until they cut back and I ended up at Mt.Mercy Hosp. in Gary. Left that job when our son Tedd almost died of bleeding ulcer. Was a stay at home mom until Tedd was well in his teens and went to work for an old friend in EC. at Kramers Florist. Loved that job and the lady that owned the shop Alice. rk miracles with flowers. When she got sick and sold out I started a house cleaning business with a lady friend. Had two homes we did weekly. When my Mom came home from Fla. after finding out she had bone cancer I quite the business to be always near my Mom. She passed away May of 92, our first Grandson was born that Oct.The following Jan. Inland downsized and Norm lost his job of 25 years. Jobs were rare even back then for what he did so we decided to sell our home and move out here where the weather was nice and no snow to shovel. Been here 16 years and Norm has a good job working for Pres. Hosp.in the computer section now for 15 years. We now have four Grandchildren , and two of them now live out here with our son. The older two still live back in Ind. I'm retired and enjoying life . So that's my story for the last umpteen years.
