Janice's Story
This photo of my son (who's 10 and a half here)and me was taken in 2007 while we were sightseeing in Rhodes.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I was a kid. As it turned out, though, I ended up being a speech therapist in a special ed. setting. I was also a special ed. teacher for a while. Never could decide which I liked better!
I checked "crafting" as a favorite indoor activity. That really isn't accurate. I'm an enthusiastic quilter and that wasn't an option on the list. I'm excited that I've been included in a quilt show that will take place in November 2011. I certainly should be able to submit my 2 items by then (it's November 30, 2010 now), but I wonder what I should make.(?)

Update on my quilts that were in the show: I've always liked those Grandmother's Flower Garden quilts that were popular back in the Depression. You know those little hexagons arranged in "flowers." I wanted to put some meaning, preferably some Jewish meaning, into mine though. I called the finished quilt "Savta's Flower Garden." "Savta" is "Grandmother" in Hebrew. If my photos haven't disappeared (that happened once before), you should be able to see a photo of it. My 2nd piece was a wall quilt or throw that I called "4 Chatulim Yoshvu Benehem/ 4 Cats WEre Sitting Together." The Israeli singer Arik Einstein wrote and sang a good song called "3 chatulim Yoshvu Benehem," but we had 4 then, so I added one. That photo should be up too.
