Janice's Story

Life Retired now and loving it! Graduated Humboldt State University after 6 years and several major changes (Oceanography to Marine Biology to Mathematics and finally, Business Administration). Worked as a computer operator/job control clerk for the next 10 years (5 at Helm Data Processing in Arcata and 5 at Atherton Industries in Menlo Park). Moved on to Software Configuration Management at General Electric Aerospace in Sunnyvale. I've been doing Software Configuration Management at The Boeing Company for the last 20+ years here in the Seattle area. I'm one of the lucky ones! I get to work virtual (aka - telecommute) from home. I love it! You can start work in your PJs and shower at lunch. More importantly ...Expand for more
I get back 2 hrs (minimum commute on a good day) to 4 hrs (average commute on a bad day). I still can't seem to get it all done, though. Go figure. Single. Live with ONE cat, Katie. She's been challenge enough. I don't know how those of you with kids do it! Sailing is a passion. I don't get to do it often enough. I love the water and anything associated with it. Love to travel and explore new places. I plan to hit all 50 states and am getting close. Been to Norway, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Italy, France; and of course, Mexico and Canada. Enjoy reading and watching movies for quiet time. Wish my family was closer. At least we are all still in the West (Fortuna,CA, Boise, ID, and Winnemucca, NV).

Enjoying the sun yesterday. Should be even nicer today. Hooray! May it stay like this for the rest of the summer. Well, it can rain OCCASIONALLY, at night, preferably.
Happy 1st day of summer (around 9:30 tonight anyway)! Too bad it is raining again. Maybe it will pass by tonight. Supposed to hit the low 80's this weekend. One can hope.
